OK, so Chapel Hill wasn’t able to have their Homecoming game this week against Pebblebrook due to the horrible flooding.
Need I dare say it at the risk of losing readership and support of this website? There is more to life than football.
Now, that’s out of the way. The remainder of Region 4-AAAAA teams were able to play their games as scheduled.
In a game televised live on CSS, Newnan rolled over Creekside, 34-6 in a battle of unbeaten teams. The win improved Newnan to 5-0, 4-0. Coincidentally, it was the first time this year, the Cougars have allowed any points in Region 4-AAAAA. Previously, they gave up 15 to LaGrange (2-AAA) in the season-opener.
Meanwhile, the Indians from East Coweta didn’t fare as well falling to Westlake, 34-27. The Lions improved to 4-1, 4-0. The Indians have dropped their last two games. Last week, they upended by Creekside, 13-9.
Newnan and Westlake now sit 1 and 2 respectively atop Region 4-AAAAA. Followed by Creekside, Chapel Hill and East Coweta.
In other other scores from around the region:
Lovejoy 16 – Mundy’s Mill 6 (Lovejoy breaks a two-game losing skid)
Riverdale 24 – Morrow 15 (Riverdale’s first win of the year)
Here’s a look at how Region 4-AAAAA is shaping up midway through the season.

So, Monday, Douglas County schools are back in session and the Panthers will pick up with their game preparations for Pebblebrook and Homecoming 2009.
After the week virtually everyone has had, it would be nice if the stands are packed this coming Friday. Come out and support the Panthers and celebrate Homecoming 2009 when Chapel Hill hosts Pebblebrook. One addtional thought, pray for those who can’t make it because they lost so much.
Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
